So which do you feel is better for leopard hunting. I've seen where people have mentioned the moon phase, is a dark night without a moon better than a full moon?

Monetarily speaking, I like to go as late in the season as I can...

Because there might be 2 leopards available instead of the 1 I hoped for, or an extra buff, etc... Wink

Going late gets you away from the young babes that make easy food. Go in the dark of moon if poossible.

I had gone late twice and zeroed out, then went in 1st part of june is full moon and connected. I likes the moon, you had to sit still as can bee, but you could see what was going on at the bait

Now that would be determined by where you are going for the most part, the population of Leopards in the area, the amount of water and the location of said water, the abiltiy of the PH to pick a bait tree, and several other things that I am sure I have over looked....I know PHs that seem to get Leopards about anywhere and others that couldn't get you a Leopard in the San Antonia zoo....

The Safari company I go with will never, never have you hunt Leopard just before, during a full moon! I was going in 2002, he called me with the dates of the safari, I confirmed them. A week or so later he called me back and asked if I could change the dates by a few days. Said the moon faze was wrong. Results: 3 hunters - 3 Leopards.

On other safaris I was on, not Leopard hunting, I remember one, it was during a full moon, did night hunting for small critters, didn't hardly see anything, bad moon faze!

On my sucessful leopard trip I had planned it so I got there as the moon was waning and for the first 6 days we had leopards walking right past baits without interest. On the 7th day we had cats on 6 different baits.

Ray,
I assume Pierre is one of the former and not the latter?
