I went and saw the new movie, "The Giver" last night as it has been touted as having a conservative political message.

"The Giver" is played by Jeff Bridges who holds all the collected memories of the past in the current society that celebrates sameness and conformity. He is giving his memories to the young man who is supposed to take his place and at first only transfers nice memories. The kid loves it and wants more, but then The Giver warns him that there a lot of bad things in the world and horrible cruelty. The kid says, let me have it so Jeff Bridge's character sends him as the first example of man's cruelty.........footage of a bull elephant hunt. I swear I have seen that footage before in one of the DVDs I have. It shows a bull elephant getting a brain shot and I do believe it is real. The kid experiencing this of course shows disgust and disbelief.

I went to see a movie with a supposedly conservative philosophy underpinning it and I still got punked by the anti-hunters.

I'm trying to remember the last time I went to the picture show.
Like your experience, I just kept seeing BS that flew against all I believe in.

If we looked into every individuals life I am sure there are things we might find completely unacceptable and disgusting. One being the lack of respect towards where the meat on their table came from.Kinda of like having a huge disrespect to the transport of crude oil and not realizing the importance of oil in our everyday lives.Same goes for our security.

I haven't read the book, but this scene definitely portrayed trophy hunters, not poachers. The PH and his client were both white and dressed up like they were outfitted from an LL Bean catalog.

From the Spark Notes

Another time, after the Giver transmits a memory of an elephant mourning the death of another elephant that was brutally killed by poachers, he tries to give the memory to Lily, hoping that she will understand that her toy elephant is a representation of something that was once real and majestic and awe-inspiring. It does not work.

Can you believe it? Those Hollywood bastards changed things to fit their own PC view of the world. I am shocked!

Did you know there is a competition out by some nutter organization, where people have to judge inventions, whether they have been good or bad for humanity.

Yep, guns are the forefront of the baddies, followed by motor cars!

Talk about being irrelevant.

Like some university in the UK spending thousands of pounds to find how to make the perfect sandwich!

Try to keep up. Quickly and cleanly killing an old, mature elephant is the height of cruelty to an innocent creature. Chopping an unborn human being to death is de rigueur.
