Left the UK in the early part of 1896 to Cape Town.

Spent time in a Johannesburg hospital suffering from a bullet wound.

Travelled in Mashonaland, British Central Africa and the regions around lake Tanganyika and the Congo.

Went to Portuguese East Africa, and layter to German East Africa.

Spent 16 years almost continuously in Africa, except for two short intervals to the Old Country.

During the past ten years, I have shot 447 elephant bulls - I do not count cows.

Who am I?

That did not take very long!

15 minutes and you got the right answer.

Many years ago I read his book, and I just downloaded it again on my Kindle.

Yes I know - just to make a riddle harder.

If you enter data like this in google search the answer just pops up:

Here is one from Walter.

I was born in one of the British colonies.

Spent time in India in my childhood.

Travelled to Africa on a ship, with 70 Pounds Sterling in my pockets.

Hired help, and went into the interior of Southern Africa.

Hunted elephants exclusively for 13 years, shooting 3219 bulls, ranging in size from 40 pounds to 129 pounds.

And finally I am ..... .....!

Who am I?

Poison for passion. Hard way to die. But Jimmy was a man I could admire. One could do far worse for tools with which to earn one's living than a pair of single trigger .577 Westley Richards doubles.
