As you’ve already booked and going I guess you are hoping to get positive feedback. What if you don’t get the feedback you’re hoping for? Is not a bit late?

For the record I don’t even know where Coutada 14 is or who operates there.

swoobie,

Toni has many many buffalo. No worries there! Later in the season is best but you'll do fine there.

By all accounts loaded with buffalo.

Mostly swamps compared to C10 and C11.

I hunted 14 in 2012 but was only in there for a couple days. I had already taken a buffalo in the forests of C12 with Zambeze Delta Safaris on that hunt and wanted a second bufflo. C14 still had quota left so we drove in and set up a fly camp. Saw lots of buffalo in swamps but little to no plains game. I think it gets poached pretty heavy because of its proximity to Marromeu. In contrast C11 and C12 were filthy with plains game. In 2014 I went back with ZDS with a friend and he went to C14 for one day while I stayed back and hunted in 11. He reported plenty of buffalo but no plains game to speak of. This is a number of years back so things may have changed. If you do a search in the hunting reports I did reports on both those hunts.

Thanks for the helpful and quick response. I've not done a swamp hunt and want to be prepared for terrain/weather. Will reach out via email.

I have personally guided a number of buffalo hunts in Coutada 14. No shortage of buffalo, bushbuck and reedbuck. Later in the year once the area gets burned one will see more plains game like waterbuck, warthog, sable, eland and hartebeest. Toni used to have an arrangement with coutada 11 to hunt some of the smaller species if that would be of interest.Get hold of Toni Wicker or his son Sebastian Wicker of Nyati Safaris. My advice is to be prepared to take a second buffalo.

Sable, Eland, waterbuck, hartebeest, reedbuck, bushbuck and warthog. Toni used to have an arrangement with coutada 11 to take some of the smaller species that may be of interest. Important to take note of what gear to take over with you. Good luck and no doubt you will have fun.

hunted with Toni some years ago there.
I would recommend seeing if a second Buffalo is available and hunt one in the swamps then work on the duggerboys in the palm fringe country

Just following this up as we returned about a week ago. There is heavy concentration of buffalo - we saw buffalo every day, another hunter did take two buffalo. We were into a herd of 400-500 buff on the next to last day and took a 41" bull from it.

Other game seemed plentiful in the less swampy areas where we saw Eland, Reedbuck, Waterbuck, bushbuck, Sable (some large herds), Warthog, etc.

We had two encounters with hippo, but export wasn't a certainty, so we passed.

Great hunt, Sebastian and his PH Nick are top notch. My friends were very happy with Sebastian, Nick was my PH and he worked hard to get me in close and I took my buff at 15 yards.

You will get wet, even at the end of the season. Be prepared, most important gear besides firearms are quick drying boots. I bought the Altama Maritime Assault Boots and they were comfortable no matter the conditions.
