Hi all
A client/friend is looking at a buffalo hunt next year in Omay area. I offered to research it for him but cant find anything up-to-date on Hunting Report. Does anyone have any info...?? It is with Bulembi Safaris
If there is anything critical then please PM, if you prefer...

Many thanks in advance
Matt

As far as I'm aware, Butch of Bulembi no longer books for his Omay North but is run through a Martin Peters?
That is what he told me at the local in Bulawayo last may.

To my knowledge there are no buffalo still alive in Omay North.

I hunted Buffalo in Omay south a couple of years ago. The camp itself is on a high cliff overlooking the river. The area is rough and your friend will earn his trophy. I took my bull the last afternoon (day 5) of the hunt, it was a 38" hard bossed old bull. I was happy happy. The camp is the Manaluye (sp) and you can see some pictures of the camp on HHK's web site. I did not hunt with them but with another outfit which had sublet the camp for my hunt.

This season was an improvement from the last two from what I have heard and three years ago we found a few good Bulls.

As a follow up if your friend wants to "Hunt" Buffalo and earn his trophy then the Omay is the place to go. I have heard PHs say it is one of the toughest areas to hunt Buffalo.

I hunted buff in the Omay North area in Sept of '06 and took a very nice dugga boy that taped 39". I actually could not get a shot on a bigger bull a few days earlier as I was well beyond my acceptable range of 100yds with my double. DOJ is correct.....be in good shape as you will walk and walk....we did. I hunted with Craig Robinson who was freelancing for Carl Mason. The area had been poached hard, but there were buff.....of course it's been over a year Roll Eyes.
