Russ Broom Safaris has been recommended to me for a buffalo hunt. Has anyone out there used this outfit before and care to comment on you experience(s)? Feel free to PM me if you would like. I'm thinking about 2007 . . . -eric " . . . a gun is better worn and with bloom off---So is a saddle---People too by God." -EH

I hunted elephant and buffalo with PH Rory Muil in 2003. Camp, food and PH were very good. However, there are better concessions in Zim for buffalo, IMHO. Regards, Terry Msasi haogopi mwiba [A hunter is not afraid of thorns]

TH - The chatter on the ground was not too complimentary of the camps/infrastructure at this moment in time. Things change very quickly in Zim, so make sure to talk to references that were there this year before making a decision.

I too hunted ele and buff with them in 2003. I had a great safari, however R-B no longer has the area I hunted. My impression was that R-B is well connected. This means that they have good areas, can get food, fuel etc. Not a minor consideratiion in Zim. There are now only a few operators that I personally would hunt with in Zim, R-B is certainly one of them. Brett

TH, I hunted with Russ Broom safaris in 2001, 2002 & 2004. We shot very good buffalo each time. Camps are fine and all in all I would say they do a good job. Area they hunt is not great for plains game but some decent trophies are taken. BigB

I hunted with Russ in 94,97,2000, and 2004. His areas are mainly tribal near Binga and he does have access to plains game in the midlands. He always treated me fairly and I always found plenty of good buffalo elephant, and fair plains game. His leopard are some of the biggest to come out of Africa as he hunts bordering Chizz park. He had clients shoot 60 , 70. and 80 pound elephant last year and always shoots two or three big ones a year. His camps are always well stocked and he has access to adaquate fuel supplies. He is as said well connected and if something goes wrong he can usually make it right. His areas do have a fair ammount of people in them so it will not be a wilderness hunt. On our last hunt we saw very few people when we stayed in the hunting areas and away from the villages. I have seen lions on each safari and could have shot them each time but decided to just take one very good one and let the rest walk.
