Our friend Gayne C Young has an article in the new issue of DSC Game trails about using the 9.3X74R Krigegoff double for whitetails in Mo. and how the locals reacted to this "African" double rifle and whitetails, I told Gayne I thought I was the only whitetail hunter that used a 9.3X74R double (mine Chapius) as their go to whitetail rifle at least here in Penns woods, it replace my Ruger#1 in 9.3X74R as my whitetail rifle. Of course on my little woodlot not many long shots.

I guess using my Heym 450/400 DR is a bit on the heavy side? Great whitetail and hog gun. Besides, it is a great way to keep tuned up for hunting in Africa.

This is not strange at all! Most all the DRSS members hunt everything fron jackrabbit to elephant with a double rifle. Walking up jacks and poping at them with a little 9.3X74R double rifle is damn fine practice for moving targets with a double!

I have never used the 9.3x74 on anything, but have killed white-tails with a lot of stuff from a .22 Hornet up to a .458 Win Mag.

I think any opportunity to hunt with a gun that a person will be using for an African hunt is a good deal.

I used my Chapuis 9.3X74R double all last season for Whitetail Deer. Plan to do so again this year.

I shot a bobcat with my .470 the year before last. Hornady DGX sure did the job!

I whack pine squirrels regularly with my double 450NE. It frequently creates a stunning visual display! Took it with me for Black Bear this past spring but no joy. And we won't even talk about having shot a bunch of fish with it. Roll EyesCLICK ON THE PICTURE FOR VIDEO!

I am still bolt trash but I take my 416 rigby pig hunting in Texas all the times. My favorite bullet is the hornady 400gn TSX but at 200 dollars a box I can have just as much fun with the Fusion bullets at 90 a box and they really splatter these big Texas wild boars. Great practice stalking the wild boars and hadling the 416 in hunting conditions,,,nothing like practice, practice, practice!!!

Hornady makes a TSX bullet/ammo?? I thought they only made the GMX bullet. Barnes makes TSX bullet/ammo.

Sorry diver,, I meant dgx and dgs, by Hornady,, all these abbreviations! the Barnes is a tsx.... my point the same,, I found some less expensive ammo I can shoot at the wild pigs here in Texas and keep having fun with the 416 and stay in practice.
I do need a cheat sheet for all the ammo manufactures and their bullet type/abbreviations though!
I shoot the Hornady GMX in mt 7 mag great result with that one just for the record but it isn't my "africa" gun

The 9.3x74R chambered double rifle is one of the most popular medium game brush and running game setups. Not reason not to use it on whitetail or any other deer species, boar, antelope etc.
