Is there anyone from Namibia who is going to SCI that would be interested in bringing along a tanned flat skin with them? The skin is at Hunters Pride Taxidermy in Witvlei about 100 km from Windhoek. Of course I would pay a nice courier fee for your effort. Please send me a PM if you are interested. Thank you, Jon

This wouldn't be legal buddy! I wouldn't suggest it...especially soliciting it on a public website! Any outfitter who reads this, should know, this is not a good idea!

if it isn't a CITES animal, why would it be illegal. outfitters bring all sorts of animal products to decorate their booths.. Vote Trump- Putin’s best friend… To quote a former AND CURRENT Trumpiteer - DUMP TRUMP

If you have someone bring in a sport hunted trophy/product from trophy ie..flat skin it must be imported with the appropriate paperwork. Through a usfw designated port of entry! You can make up all sorts of what ifs...it's certainly illegal!

Not according to the taxidermist or the USFWS it isn't. There is documentation with the skin it is just a matter of me not wanted to get bent over by the shipping and clearing people to get a simple flatskin home. You really think that the skins sold to tourists at the JNB airport have to be cleared at a point of entry? Thanks for your interest.

Bringing anything that requires DOCUMENTATION that does not belong to you personally is asking for trouble.

RXG, I think you are getting good advice from Saeed and Oryx. Just because you can buy it at the JoBerg airport doesn't mean you can bring it into the states (without clearing it properly). Case in point: You can buy Cuban Cigars at the Duty Free in JoBerg. Don't get caught bringing them into the states however!!

Saeed & Todd-thanks for backing me up here! RGX-Skins that are purchased in Joburg, are not considered Hunter Harvest Sport Trophies! They fall into a completely separate category...and therefore require USFW paper work, export papers, import papers, etc. I don't care what you're Taxidermist is telling you, he is WRONG! And BTW it won't be him dealing with legal issues and fines!!! As far as "according to USFW," their opinion/stance changes by whomever decides to answer the phone that day. There's plenty of stories of "they said I could," that ended up with $$$$ being spent to keep your butt out of trouble. Amazingly, if this was such an easy...legal thing, where are all the nice Namibian Ph's who would readily volunteer to bring your stuff in? *crickets* The only responses you've gotten are...It's not a good idea! I"m not trying to be rude in any way, but you're playing with fire. Most of the stuff you see in booths, are clients products...not brought by Phs. You're worried about getting bent over by the shipping/clearing...when USFW bends you over, you never stand up straight again!
