First of all, lets assume one is going on safari and collects some trophies which are to be freighted home with documentation etc. But say you want some extra sable horns (to make into stool legs), impala horns (for door handles), kudu horns (candle holders), warthog tusks (for whatever) etc. They dn't have to be trophies, merely suitable for the purpose wanted. If they can be purchased economically, can they be shipped out, ideally with the trophy shipment? Would this cause problems with documentation, say in Zimbabwe or South Africa? Thanks.

I would assume that if they are purchased from a legal dealer, they issue you with proper documentation. If it is from an outfitter/ph, then you might need to get paperwork which most Taxidermist there could do for a few bucks. "...Them, they were Giants!" J.A. My safari company told me that if I wanted to keep some horns that I found they had to get a export permit, which requires them to show the Government that a trophy fee had been paid. meaning me paying the trophy fee!!! I left the horns where they laid! I did take some photo's with them! "America's Meat - - - SPAM" As always, Good Hunting!!! Widowmaker416

I got the same story as widowmaker when I wanted to buy an extra elephant skull for a friend while in Botswana. Mark MARK H. I was under the impression that "extra trophies" ie odd impala horns, kudu horns etc do have to be covered by the export permit. I guess it is up to the outfitter, or if bought by the taxidermist can they really issue papers to allow sundry items to be exported? Some of these "odds and ends" can be worked into very nice decorations in trophy rooms. Impala horns as door handles on wooden double doors is a case in point. But say if a kudu and it costs $600 for a trophy fee! Maybe not.
