Dear Mark,

Good to hear from you. Neil has just left on a 3 week safari. At the moment we have some USA clients in camp, all has gone well and they have had a good safari.
Barrie is not too concerned about our situation on Mokore as such. He has just been for a meeting with Johnson Mapahadzi (who is our DA for the district) and Barrie said I want to know what is going on because I do not want to bring foreigners out here hunting if we are to expect any trouble on Mokore. Johnson, said to absolutely not cancel any safaris, he says we are not expecting any invasions. There have been some incidents close to Masvingo and Mutare (in our region) whereby invaders just trying their luck have gone onto farms to take them, but the police got very quickly involved saying it was illegal and none of the so-called invaders have been successful (some actually put into jail) which is a very good sign for us. Mashonaland district up near Harare, there have been some invasions on farms, but we don't actually know of any incidents that have actually happened so what truth there is in it we are not sure. As far as safety goes, it is the norm, I drove to Mozambique (on my own with Rachel) the day of elections and Zim was very quiet. Neil and I came back a week ago Sunday and there were a number of road-blocks along the way, but the cops (as they are re-nowned in Zimbabwe) we very friendly and pretty much waved us through.
We are all awaiting the outcome of this weekends meetings with Morgan Tsvangirai and SADC. What we are expecting is that Robert Mugabe will get away with his rigging and things will go back to normal (or whatever you call it), I realise that sounds hugely pesimistic, but we have been dealing with this man for 30 years now and don't expect anything else from him. If MDC are given presidency officially that will be a wonderful thing for Zimbabwe.
Will be in touch as soon as we know what the outcome is - you guys will probably hear about anything before us on the news!
Take care and hi to Sadie,
Shayle

Thanks Mark. That's a report from an area we hadn't heard much from. Appreciate it and glad to hear the Duckworths are doing ok.

Hi,
I hope that is valid also for Gordon Duncan and Glenn Stockil at Senuko, Save, the Shangaan hunters.

Husky,

I think it is safe to assume that the news from Mokore is applicable to the whole surrounding area. As for myself I would bet some serious money that things will be "NORMAL" in Zim soon. That does not mean that there will be a flourishing economy or thriving democracy but as far as hunitng goes it will be very good and hassle free.

Mark

Thank you folks, and Husky for your concern. There has been no problems in the Save Valley at all and all the operators are doing bussiness as usual up to date. I have not heard of anyone having problems on the road getting to their hunting areas either but hunters coming in the next month or so should at least find out about charter options incase of any incedents. Good hunting to you all.
