I don't know Andr. Perhaps because we Americans like a challenge. Of course, I'm not a REAL American, but just a displaced northern European (Danish actually). But, frankly, I haven't noticed that Americans per se were all that vocal about restricting you or anyone else. I would be interested to see you put some data together to prove it. Somehow, I suspect you won't find statistical significance.

In the meantime, just whacking a buffalo with the standard modern bigbore seems just a mite boring to me. Of course, I haven't done it personally, so perhaps I'm missing something. But I do find this to be generally the rule for most modern hunting in my case, so let's just blame me, rather than the rest of the nation.

That aside, it seems so incredibly odd that so many PEOPLE (even Americans, Andre) are dead set against ANYONE hunting a buffalo with .45-70 lever rifle. Indeed anyone that says he would, or, god forbid, HAS, is ridiculed, called a liar and worse. Though yall seem to be quite good at ignoring Saeed's comment that he would be more than willing to do so. Why is that anyway?

Well, if I don't win, I would rather eventually hear about the winner that did it with a .45-70 than someone that whacked yet another daga boy with a .404 Jeffery or some other humdrum cartridge that has been used a million times.

And, if you don't share those interests that's fine with me. I just thought I'd post my opinion. You can always hit your ignore button for each and every American on the list if you want, that way you won't be trouble by us curious soles that like to think outside your box.

Oh well,
Brent - an unrepentant American with a bad case of the ".45-70 what ifs"

PS. If a .45-70 becomes a requirement for this raffle, I'll consider buying an extra ticket to cover the one that old Andr won't buy because he has this thing about .45-70s....

Roger,

When you all get the details worked out contact me and I will consider it. It's not a promise, it will depend on what is going on with me at the time and how difficult it looks like it will be to sell out on tickets. The first one was a tremendous amount of work.

I think it will sell faster if you do not make a caliber restriction. If memory serves me right it took 6 months to sell out the first one.

I also think it should include enough $dough$ to send an observer like the first one did. That was a nice addition and the observer should be someone chosen from A-R and who also bought tix.

I think that it is clear that there is a lot of interest. Rather than a poll, I'd like to see a specific proposal. You can poll this thing to death or move forward. I was in the last one, I expect I'll be in this one. Put it together and lets move.

Ann,

Thanks for your relaying this to the members. I know, as well as the rest of the members, that the circumstances you encountered could happen to anyone.

If you have read any sour grapes, just know from the vine they came from.

How about your company doing the booking? Just keep Ganyana involved. Seems to be a straight up fellow.

BTW, hope your finally whupping your ailment.

From the responses so far, most are agreeable to the 45/70 lever gun idea.

One more question -- is it a caliber requirement or a caliber and platform requirement? The above post would indicate that other 45/70 rifles (single shot, double, bolt) would not be permitted.

Thanks.

Roger,

Lets get this raffle on the move!
To begin with we need to establish the basic rules for the raffle, and in the meanwhile there will be time to contact several outfitters in order to get some ideas on amounts, dates, etc

I still have $110 in traveller cheques from an infamous Klasserie Buff raffle, which I have to put to some use.

Thanks for the information on "Buff Hunt I". I did not enter it and did not really follow what happened.

I would be very interested if the firearm used is "Hunters Choice"

Why is it mostly Americans who are so egger to restrict the rest of us from using other calibers ?

Usually it is the UN that is pushing for international gun restrictions, but this time I agree it is the Americans who want to restrict us.
