So, is my 5 year old 4457 still good if I am traveling to countries than SA? I understand that it is for re-entering the US....and is not even needed when entering other countries, like say Australia, am I correct??

There is a vast thread on this one, do a search and you'll find it.
If going to South Africa you will need one which hasn't "expired" there is a date on some older forms that have an expiration date, and the SA police take this as a non valid shooting permit.
They don't understand the 4457 and no point trying to educate them!!
Quite a few here have downloaded the current form and got it redone.

If your not going to South Africa you don't need to worry.

Cheers

Nick
