Well my copy of the latest Ivan Carter DVD arrived two days ago and I have finally finished watching it.

I found the filming and editing very good and all the hunts follow the same story line of intro, prep, tracking, stalking and the kill. I found Ivan Carters detailed commentary easy to listen to. Some of the clips I have seen in other DVD's but the majority are original.

The only bad aspect of the DVD IMO are some of the overly dramatised intro's to the different segments. 'When tooth and claw hold sway over steel and lead'. Spare me please ..... He also introduces the Hippo and Crocodile as additional DG and no doubt a bit of promo for new DG won't hurt the industry.

I think this genre of DVD has come about as far as it can and it is now an endless stream of the same thing. As more people pay for their hunts to be filmed there will be a larger pool of footage to choose from but essentially it is the same format.

Still good value and I give it 8 stars (out of 10).

Edit: I would still like to know what rifles and calibres are used by the hunters. There are some awefully thin barreled rifles which seemed to need multiple shots to anchor the quarry.
