I've booked a hunt to Zambia and was wondering if anyone has flown on Kenya Air thru Nairobi, and if there was a problem bringing rifles through Kenya. I'd like to avoid Jo'berg and it's paperwork if possible.

Thanx, Bwana N

BN,

No paperwork in JB if your luggage is checked thruogh to somewhere outside of the country. I'm actually traveling from Lusaka to JB to London on the way back this fall to avoid an overnight in London.

This is correct at least until May 2007 when we traveled through Jo'Berg.

We were actually told by our PH to avoid Nairobi as according to him there have been reports of lost rifles while transiting through there.

The reason I was considering Nairobi was Swiss Air flies to Kenya, then Kenya Air into Lusaka. If BA flies direct to Lusaka from Heathrow, thats probably the way to go. Anyone brought guns through London recently? Thanks for all the input. BN

Bwana

I usually think sticking with what works is the best policy and BA to Lusaka is simple and hassle free. BA is my preferred carrier. They have the best record of baggage and guns arriving with the passengers of any airline servicing Africa.
My understanding and eveidently the understand of other posters is that traveling through Nairobi could be problematic.

+1! I've flown the Houston to Heathrow to Lusaka route via British Air and was impressed with the quality and comfort on the flight. Be sure to check out prices on World Traveler Plus... a premium economy seat. Good value.
