KathiGiant rats terrorise Zimbabwe village
Rodents terrorise Zvishavane residents
Chronicle Reporter
GIANT rats are terrorising Zvishavane residents who fear outbreaks of diseases caused by the rodents.
Residents in the town said the rats were almost as big as cats and they were destroying even things made from steel.
Mr Isaac Magunde said the rats were causing chaos in their homes as beds, kitchen units and wardrobes were being destroyed.
He said many villagers were now afraid of a possible outbreak of diseases caused by rats as they had infested many areas.
He said the most affected areas were Chief Wedza, Dayataya, and Zvishavane town. Mr Magunde said to make matters worse, the rodents were resistant to normal rat poison.
He said many people in these areas were at crossroads, as they did not know how to control the rodents.
The rats were also reportedly attacking people and eating their hands and feet if they were not washed properly.
Efforts to get a comment from Zvishavane Town council authorities were fruitless as the Town Secretary was said to be out of town and his cellphone was unreachable.

T.CarrThe rats are not invading the villages. They are just returning home after voting for Mugabe in the recent election.
