Zim Rifle Question

This question will probably get me lynched by some folk.

I want to take my Larue 308 AR rifle to Zim to hunt mainly bush pigs with. The rifle is an AR platform gun but balances like a fine double rifle, is damn accurate and fun to shoot. It has a 5 round mag - I can actually hold more rounds in my CZ.

Question is it legal to take a AR type rifle out of the country and is it legal to hunt and import it in Zim?

I know 20-30 round mags and some optics are export restricted - not 100% sure if that means you cannot take it and return it.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
Not exactly sure of the facts but I have been led to believe that military style weapons, especially in military calibers, are not allowed.

I don't believe that any semiauto rifles are permitted.

You are asking 2 different questions.

Can you take a semiauto rifle out of the country? Yes, but make sure you follow our rules. (I am not sure what changes were made, but several years back I took some semi auto stuff to Canada, and while Canada had a bunch of rules, the U.S. did not. Of course, this predated 9/11 so it's been a while.

Can you take it to Zimbabwe? No. No semiauto rifles are allowed.
