May God grant him the peace he so richly deserves. In my life time there has not been his equal in the Whitehouse, and I doubt there will be befor I join in him in Heaven. THANK YOU Mr President for all you have done for our Nation we are in your debt.

I always wanted to meet him, shake his hand, and say thank you for winning the cold war, preventing WW-III, and opening up the Communist block. He was a first class act and we are all lesser at his passing. Jeff in Texas

He never once flinched from his duty. His words and optimistic example steadied and braced all of us. He buried the evil empire. After serving in the military under Nixon, Ford, and Carter it felt so good to have the opportunity to salute President Reagan. His words helped me see how necessary our daily stuggle to keep the dream of freedom alive is. May God receive him with the same care and love he once extended to all of us. JCN

It's true that he was a useful man. But many people are useful without being outstanding. Ronald Reagan was truly outstanding, a giant who towered over his contemporaries.
He was also very fortunate in that people, especially his opponents and enemies, constantly underestimated him.

It won't happen but should, another bust should be added to Mt Rushmore. He was not only one of the greatest Presidents of this great nation but also one of the greatest world leaders to have ever lived. He made us all proud to say we were Americans. God has welcomed him home!

President Reagan was a class act and never let the trapp ings of the office affect him. His strength seemed to be that everyone ( detractors )under-estimated his ability to govern and make decisions.
He will be missed. RIP.

I had drill this weekend. I caught the "declining health" news on the radio as I was driving to Des Moines and made it a point to check CNN.com regularly. That's how I got the news while I was at the unit. I personally went out front and dropped the Flag to half-mast.
Ron meant a lot to me. I came into the service on 5 Mar 82. Those were the early days of the Reagan years. Those were good years. Almost overnight, it seemed, we had money for schools and money for training. Our pay increased enough that it was actually noticeable. I was proud to serve. I'm still proud to serve but, in those years, it was a very special feeling.
I sincerely miss the guy. I went out Saturday night and got industrially plastered on several, several Black Russians -- no coincidence about our defeating communism, it's just the only thing I could think of that would numb the pain the fastest.
I'm hearing he'll be buried on 11 June. Interesting. That's the day John Wayne died. I only mention this because both guys mean so much to me.
By the way -- Ron was commissioned at FT Des Moines, where I drill. We have always had a picture of him in the hallway, showing him on his commissioning day.
Vaya con Dios, Ronald Wilson Reagan.
