GaryLAfrican Beer in USA?
I'm not able to uncover a source in Michigan for any African beer brand. Not even as a special order. Do any of the brethern have a source I might...ah...tap?

Matt NormanI live in SE Michigan. If you want to split a case of Windhoek Lager or Castle I'm in. Wish they had some Tafel! (my favorite) PM me if you want to do something. I've got two Namibian PH's at my house right now.

China Fleet SailorI don't know how up to date this info is, but this is the import agent for Windhoek Lager. Maybe they'll have something else, as well.

Sprecher Brewing Co. in Wisconsin has two african style beers, Mbege and Shakporo ales. Not authentic, but maybe worth a shot. You can buy on line.

Go to the largest "chain" beer store you can find and / or it may take a drive to another larger town. I live near Colorado Springs and we have a "chain" store here its called "Cheers Liquors" they stock Tusker and said that they would order in a case at a time anything I wanted. matter of fact enjoyed a few Tuskers with some freinds just the other night makes me want to go to Africa and try them all!

RBHuntI certainly enjoy the local brews in whatever country I happen to be hunting in, but must say that in the good old USA, I am quite happy with what is available locally.

GaryLThanks for all your suggestions. My intent is to have an "Open House" for friends and co-workers when my trophies finally are on the wall. (Presently ready to ship from SA.) I just thought a little brew from Africa would be a nice touch. I've contacted a number of distributers and it looks like a beer run to Chicago is my best bet for now. Anyone know where I can get some Impala Brats?

Binny's has a number of locations in the Chicago area and usually carries Windhoek and Tusker beer. They also have a good selection of South African wines as well. I go to the store in Naperville.
www.binnys.com Might be worth a call before you hit the road to stock up. Who knows, maybe the will ship to you.
Good Luck.

L. David KeithI took a liking to Zambezi in Zim recently. The only thing I wouldn't try was the homebrew they called Scud. Mainly Castle and Zambezi was served anywhere in Zim.

RobertJrCheck your local exotic wine and beer stores. I found Tusker in downtown Roanoke, VA and almost feinted on the spot. What a nice surprise!!!!
It made old times on the dark continent with Finn Aagaard seem like only yesterday.

Jorge,
You're certainly welcome! I have to order there about once a month to get my fix of Oma's Rusks! Man, they are great with a cup of coffee! And if think the beer is great, try the red wine selection!

I checked out their site and then called them. For some reason they cannot ship to Michigan. The beer run is on!

jstevensI might drink some for nostalgia, but there I never had a particularly good beer while in Africa. It was cold however and it was beer, so it was good.

Thanks for that source, had to order a case of Castle and Windhoek. Also tried the rusks. Now I will be ready for Africa before I go to Africa.

adrookIf anyone in the Atlanta area is interested I just bought singles of Tusker (Kenya) for $2.29/bottle at the new Total Wine superstore on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw. They also ordered me a case for $42. They also had Castle Lager for $10/ 6 pack.
Cheers,
Andy
