Am considering Samaras for a Buffalo hunt. Any experience you could pass along would be helpful. I am primarily interested in Buffalo, but would like to hear what other game you have seen. Thanks.

G L Klrause,

Welcome to the forum.

I have never hunted with Samaras, but have heard nothing but good reports of him.

I also have not hunted with Luke but have heard excellent reports about him and his operation. A fellow AR member books for him Greg R of mombasa trading company, he has hunted with luke a couple of times and has excellent things to say about his operation.

I hunt with one of Luke's PH's, Piet Fourie, in RSA each year, and if ever you can get him as your PH, you are in for a great time.

A good friend did a 21 day full bag last year. He had a great hunt.

I can only give a second-hand reference as well. Luke Samaras' operation was recommended to me by a friend, who's opinions I trust and value, based on his good experience (Bob Fontana). He booked through Keith Atcheson and had nothing but good things to say about the Atcheson's as well. I came within a hair of booking with them for '06 as well, but ended up going with another agent/outfitter mainly of the availablility of a specific PH.

Cheers,
Canuck

Terry,

Is Piet still hunting in SA? I spoke with him about it in Dallas 2 years ago.

He is a good guy.

He is featured in one of Capsticks videos if you want to see and watch him in "person".

Careful now......videos are also good marketing tools and don't always tell ya much about the person.

Vapodog, I have the Capstick videos, at least most of them. Which one are you referring too?

G L,
I'm sure you will be pretty safe to book a buff hunt with luke's outfit in the Selous. One of the Ph's to consider hunting with is "bloodnut", ex Selous Scout and a hell of a companion, hunter and bushman!

He does free lance in SA before going to Luke. I hunt each year with him at African Dawn.

He should be getting back by Christmas, and hope he comes to Dallas this year.
