MJinesInteresting Device
Saw this advertised today. This is an interesting device. An emergency locator device utilizing GPS coordinates and satellites for transmitting messages. Coverage unfortunately does not extend to southern Africa, but covers northern Africa and virtually all of Europe and North and South America. For those of us hunting in remote locations this could be some good insurance. Any one familiar with the product? Cost is not bad, $169 for the unit and $99/year for the the service.

jcarrI saw that ad on the Outdoor Channel the other day, definitely going to get one before next season. Here in Wyoming cell phones are unreliable out of town and total crap in the mountains.

WillYou probably would have more justification for this in the US than Africa. At least in Africa you have a whole entourage looking after you.
In the US they couldn't find you if you standing on the highway in rush hour traffic!

MJinesI could not help but think about the hikers that were stranded on Mount Hood recently (not sure that they ever found all of them). Something like this could have been a real lifesaver.
