Yes. It will hold up to six long guns in soft cases. Fewer if scoped.

Watch your weight- 50# limit

An empty TuffPak weighs 17lbs in of itself. My calculator tells me that leaves 33lbs for guns, ammo and assorted gear. Not a lot. Prepare to pay a small penalty if overage is up to 70lbs.

This is from SAA:

The free checked baggage allowance shall be:

First & Business Class: 2 pieces with 32 kg (70lb) each and maximum dimensions of 158 cm (62inches).

Economy Class: 2 pieces with 23 kg (50lb) each and maximum dimensions of 158 cm (62inches) each

Children and Infants paying at least 50% of the adult fare are entitled to the same allowance as adults.

Infants not entitled to a seat shall only be permitted 1 checked piece (maximum dimensions of 115cm) and up to 10 kg (22lb) and one collapsible stroller.

NOTE: In case of excess weight up to a total of 32kg (70lb) per piece, a flat rate of EUR/USD 25 will be charged for the first or second bag exceeding 32kg (70lb) total weight and for any additional piece normal excess baggage rates apply.

Can you put ammo in separate boxes in the tuff pac? Or do they have to be separate?

You know. I've been reading about all this members leaving or left on hunts latly, and they're packing 3 guns to a case. What's the deal? I was always told 2 guns only!

Can 3 be packed?

If so would there be an extra charge?

Widowmaker, I've researched the heck out of this. As near as I can ascertain, the deal is this. Before the airlines reduced the weight restriction from 70 to 50 lbs, there were several that had a restriction on the number of guns (2). Now, that the weight restriction is 50, it seems they don't really care. Neither SAA or United say squat about the number of guns, just the weight. So, three guns in my Tuffpak is just under 50. I'll throw a couple of boxes of shells in there, and I'm off. I'll report if I pull it off.

There's more BS concerning # of guns/csae than Carter has pills.....and it changes with which airl;ines you travel on and who you're talking to at the ticket counter.

Basically it's this.....The Airline's rules are not known by the employees and they then impose anything that they heard or seems reasonable to them.

Get a signed copy of the airline's rules and carry it with you.....you'll still run into assholes but at least you have a reason for what you have done.
