I have on hand Fragments Of Africa by Gorden Cundill, of PHC fame. Its a series of shorts about Cundill's experiences growing up and PH'ing, its a numbered and signed copy.

I also have Pondoro, Last Of The Ivory Hunters by John Taylor. An old standby.

I always try to take a few books as planes bore me to tears. How about everyone else.

I leave in 8 days for my first Buff hunt in Tanzania, I'm having trouble sleeping already.......................JJ

JJ,

One thing I like to do is pick up a copy(s) of a couple of my favorites in "paperback" version. After reading them on the trip over, I leave them in camp for the PH's and other hunters that follow. Sometimes you have some "down" time in camp and a book can come in handy.

Good luck on your trip to TZN. There's no other place quite like it. Where are you going and who are you hunting with? I leave on September 18 for my second trip to the Selous
with Zuka Safaris. Big Grin

On my first trip to Zimbabwe I read Wilbur Smith's "The Leopard Hunts in Darkness" on the way over and "Elephant Song" on the way back - not realising that both books are banned in Zimbabwe because they talk about corruption in Zim .....I'm just glad that Mad Bob's 'Blackboots' didn't catch me with them!

This year, I'm reading "The White Nile", by Alan Moorehead, plus a collection of western fiction short stories by Elmore Leonard.

I'll also have my compact travel Holy Bible, NKV version.........

Should try KLM. No problems and much more pleasant and enjoyable. 10hours to Amsterdam and 10 to Jburg and then on to your connection if needed(thats if your going through RSA)

But for the book I read this past trip a book on the South African war in Southwest Africa by Peter Stiff.
