Exactly one year ago today I took this buffalo, my first, in Zimbabwe hunting with JudgeG and Pierr'e. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think about that trip. Like many others who frequent these forums, I guess Africa left its mark on me. I am headed back in July to Tanzania.

Ain't it great! jump

My first trip to Africa was in 2002, then again in 2004. I think daily about getting off the train in the Selous. Can't wait to get back.

It was a great day! I'd always wanted to "share" Africa with someone. I'm not sure how I talked my best bud Dale into going with me, but I'm damned glad he went.. and got hooked enough to do it again. We'll met up in the Selous on July 30th and this time he has two buffalo on his ticket. Can't wait. And we'll have a newbie in Russell to get addicted, too.

BTW, the Zebra raffle for my .375 Express is about sold out, so Russell will get a chance at a AR zebra along with the Buffalo that so many of you contributed to. Again, thanks for your support for "our" Iraq vet!

Phil,

Looking forward to it. BTW, the name is Dale. I will have three others on the flight that will be hunting with me. I am sure a cold one will be a great relief after Flying half way round the world.

1115,

A very fine bull taken in the presence of a very fine fellow Judge G. I prefer that pose greatly to the last one I was in. Africa is highly addicting alright. My first hunt was with Jan Oelofse in Namibia in 78, From the my Dad took me and my brother to Botswana to hunt buff with Hunters Africa run by Gordon Cundill.Man did they run a real East African Tent Camp. Gordon is quite the intersting chap. Our PH was Mark Selby. Shot my first bull with a SP .375 WIN M-70 the evening we arrived at a water pan. OLD huge rubbed single dugga boy. Mark gave directions where to shoot and then to keep shooting. On my first shot I spined him not intentionally) and he dropped in his tracks!
He said, "Not bad for a young yank"! My younger brother, Brian did not have as good luck as his bull was an all out war ultimately a full charge that ended up with the bull dropping to the ground just feet in front of us. 12 - 15 shots as I recall Mark and My dad were not to happy about that! Bro and I thought it was pretty cool. That hooked me on Buff and I've been back to hunt Africa nearly every year since. Leave in less than 2 weeks. Very excited Good luck to you 1115. Shoot straight and repeatedly!

Ernest, you are so right! Africa should be shared!
I'm so glad I talked my wife into going. We had a great time and the shared memories make the trip that much or enjoyable!

I think you need two anniversaries a year. One in June and one in July. Wink
