Hi! I'm looking for a big eland (no LD's...no budget). Must be a tracking one and, of course, free range. Any suggestions?

As always, many thanks for your help!

There are no small eland Big Grin

For big bodied, old bulls, C9, Mozambique, Mokore Safaris would be one. Here are two from 2010:

Botswana Kalahari with Tholo. Jeez, I have never seen so many Eland and never had the privilege of hunting with such great trackers. Those Bushman are a sight to see.

Affordable and you will likely have a shot at a very good Kudu as well.

The Bubye conservancy in Zim has lots of eland, one was not on my agenda but I saw many daily- I hunted there in 2012 (Chamalaya Camp, booked thru John Sharp). I hunted with Mokore this past summer on coutada 9. I don't recall running into eland but I was not hunting them and its a huge piece of land. If you speak to Barrie Duckworth or either of his sons and they say there are eland there- believe them- they are an honest & honorable family.

That is good to hear about the Bubye as I will be hunting eland there out of the Chamalaya camp in 2014. Probably my favorite animal to hunt...can't wait.

Yes, there are some good eland on the Bubye. Big Grin Bishopstone in Southern Zimbabwe near Beitbridge had some very good Eland. Not sure if Terry Anders still hunts there, but I'd check with him.

Having recently returned from a successful tracking eland hunt in Niassa Province, Mozambique, I can recommend my outfitter without reservation.

I would recommend Moz for sure. Lots of big Eland around and some good outfitters as well. PM me if you want more info and an outfitter to go with.

The only problem with hunting eland in the Selous is that you can't hunt them on a short stay license.

Saeed, that bull is terrific.

I also was going to mention that it may be possible to find a decent eland in the selous...

The OP says "no Budget!"

C9 in Mozambique with Mokore or the Save with Brooklands(unsure of political situation) each had numerous big Eland. Moza in late October or early November and the Save in July and ,I believe ,Sept. Great stalking often to the border or the dark......but, one day,it happens. Jim

Good day sir,
Is Eland the only beast that you would be pursuing ? We could also help you in Namibia, but figured it would be a long way for you to go for only an Eland.
I would be my pleasure to present you with a quote for the trip.

Take Care,
Marius Goosen

I'd love to track eland in Moz as many have suggested here. Aside from Lord Derby, that would probably be dream eland hunt. If you are looking for something a bit more economical, you should also consider Namibia. We did some serious tracking over 7 days before I connected with this one. Lots of big open spaces in Namibia for eland.

Vaughan Fulton. He loves to track eland and he arranged this hunt on a ranch near Otavi. We got trail cam pics of several bulls like this one during the 7 days it took to connect. Lots of bulls in that area.
