Considering the F/U going on with USFW when it comes to importing leopards, should a hunter apply for his import permit before he goes hunting or after he is succesful.

I don't mind spending the $100 upfront, but do not want the permit to expire.

If I apply after taking a leopard, I would have to ship the original permit overseas, and that sounds precarious.

Have it all filled out and no dates on it. Upon return and being successful write in dates and then mail with Tracking envelopes and a return envelope also.
Sending after you return from safari your cites is issued for a specific time period. 6 months?

Scott: Your original permit stays home. Take two copies to leave on the Zim side (or scan and e-mail them if you get the permit after you return). You will give the original USF&W permit to your importer on this side when spots arrives or in anticipation of his arrival.

Will is correct. I've imported 2 leopard within the last 2 years. Both import permits applied for after taking the cat and returning home. In both cases, I just scanned the permit and emailed overseas. No problem.

Also, the permit is good for 1 year. I had to renew the first one which is also no problem.
