Does anyone have any experience shooting African game with the new 260 gr .375 Accubond from Nosler? This includes cape buffalo - it should work.

I used it on lion in 2005 and it dropped the lion with one shot. I was in the bottom of a dried up river bed and the lion was on top of the bank facing me. My shot entered the front chest going at a slight upward path and I believe hit the spine. Shortly after the hunt I had to enter the hospital with a stomach infection or something and did not recover the bullet. I think the Accubond might be a little soft for buffalo.

Warthog, kudu, gemsbok, mountain zebra with great results in Namibia. Up to 4 feet penetration on one of the gemsbok (texas heart shot to anchor after first shot). Weight retention was near 80% on several recovered bullets, except for 58% on the zebra, upper leg shot at close range. I think it's a great plains game bullet but I would use something stouter & 300 grains for buffalo. Bob

AIU, I would second what Bobc stated. I have heard of these bullets driving through buff on broadside shots. Though your shot can not be predicted and you need to prepare for a worse case scenario with buffalo. I am going to use 300 grain TSX for my Buffalo/PG in the 375 H&H. 13 animals in Namibia in 2004 from 60 to 360 yards - perfect performance, and only 3 recovered. It is the bullet of choice for my leopard, waterbuck, and any others next month in Namibia again.
