Where can I find sepc data on the new cz 550 american safari? 375h&h and 416rigby would be nice. I looked at the cz web page but didn't see the american safari listed. Have I got the name wrong?

Mark, I looked at one of the CZ 550 American Safari Magnums in .458 Lott today. If they don't have the specs for the American version on the website, the details from the 550 Safari Magnum should apply -- except for stock of course. jim dodd

The March issue of Guns & Ammo, page 60, has an article on it. My understanding is that the barreled actions were made in the Czech Republic and the stocks in the U.S. They were (are being) mated in Missouri and about 30 should ship late this week. BTW, I believe the G&A article has a few minor mistakes in describing the rifle, but until I see one, I can't verify that.

A buddy called me today and told me that the new Safari will be offered in three different stock designs. the standard as shown in the G&A aticle, a much fancier walnut for about $350 more than the std. And a LAMINATE whose price falls about in between the Std and the fancy. Apparently the entire stock is designed to help abate recoil; straight comb, wide recoil pad, etc. I've wanted a .416 in the Rigby flavor for some time. Looking forward to one of the CZ's.
