You're correct on that Cal. I picked up on that one the first time I watched the movie. Looks like a good way to double your rifle to me.

Redford is left handed, but in this film he's shooting right handed, presumably because Finch-Hatton was right handed. Redford grabs the extra two rounds with his right hand, which is his "off" hand, and the correct hand, for doing that, but because he is playing a right handed shooter, it's not the right hand, meaning the correct hand, but is instead the wrong hand, i.e., his trigger hand. Right? It was certainly a mistake, but I wonder if it was because he didn't know any better, or because of the "wrong-handedness" of the act? Anyway, it's a sure thing that nobody with enough experience to straighten it out was consulted! Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Yes but did you notice the tracker. Although he was carrying a rifle at the end of the charge he held his hand on his axe in his belt. Traditional training? Redford may have practiced the cartridge hold just as many lefties have to practice with the right handed rifle and probably become as adept at it as any right-hander, ie Mr. Boddington who seems to do well on every scene where he is shooting the right handed rifle. And which Mauser is Karen shooting? Looking at the placement of the sight hood could it be a Westley Richards? Frank
