I just watched Nick's video and really enjoyed it.The first buffalo is absolutely crushed by his 505 with a broadside shot.

Yeah, Rusty, you got to see it.

I thought it was a great video, Nick looks like he has a great time, and the buffalo don't go far after geting hit by Nick's cannon! [Wink]

Really nice job on the video production as well.

It's very nice of you guys to express your appreciation. Rusty, please email your mailing address and I'll get you listed. The viewers have been just great in moving the videos along.

Have any Aussies seen it other than "Bakes"?

I liked the video a lot because it showed a fine classic rifle being used on a hunt done the right way with good marksmanship and good results on the buffalo. The only thing I could not tell from the video was whether the buffalo steaks tasted good.

Yes indeed... the 505 really did the job in the hands of an experimented shooter!

Great video Nick, thanks!

I have to second everyone about Nicks video. I enjoyed it too, professionally done and two great buffalo. I didn't realize how mountainous it is in that area. It would be fun to be able to glass buffalo like that.

Good of Nic to share the video with us. Even my wife liked it as it was professionally done, even with background music. Hope my .500 AHR does as good a job on buff [Big Grin] .

Thanks again Nic for the view.

Thanks to all. I wasn't at all sure the video would be interesting to others but all the feedback has been very positive.

Again, the videos are moving along briskly and anyone wanting to view it, need only email me their name, address and "AR" handle, to get listed. I'll have a 3rd video circulating in the U.S. when "Kenai Capt" receives a copy next week.

I'd like to add that the best part has been the email exchanges with the participants, as I go down the lists. The offers of assistance have been just wonderful, with special thanks to 470 Mbogo, Bakes and Eric98.

Hey "Nebraska", it won't be much longer, buddy. [Smile]

Hi Nick,
It's a pleasure to help out. You have a really enjoable video to watch that's been done in a very tasteful manner. The 505 is awesome. It sure gives a person a realistic idea of what to expect on his or her first safari.
Thanks for sharing it,
Dave

Gawd, its taking for fricken ever for a copy to get out to me!! [Wink] I am glad your Canadian distributor doesn't look after Saeed's videos too. [Razz]

One thing I will say for him though, while it might take a while to get the video, the personal delivery service is a very nice touch. [Big Grin] Looks like I'll be watching your vid sometime around Thurs. evening next week. [Smile]

I, too, want to add my appreciation to Nick for sharing the wonderful video of his hunt with us. Cape Buffalo is one of my dream hunts and watching the tape was a great way of gaining some insight if I am ever lucky enough to go.

Thanks to Nick for his generosity.

Video tape arrived yesterday. Wonderful! I didn't realise how hilly it was there, plus, I didn't know how long it would take. I just figured you'd go out in the morning, locate a herd, pick out yours, shoot it and then go home for drinky poo's and a cigar. Nick, you sure you didn't make this more difficult than you needed to?!! Now, a few questions:
1. Why is the tracker carrying a rifle? I assume it is a tracker, he is wearing the Swainson's jump suit. Is it his, or someone's spare?
2. What are those black "suspenders" worn by the PH? Is it some kind of back support or just to help hold up his belt with the ammo on it?
3. The video introduced everyone at the beginning, but I noticed a gal in some of the shots who looked like a "trainee" PH?
Excellent photography, nice sound track, very realistic (I guess!) Did you take any plains game on this hunt?
Peter.

Peter,
500,000 acres is quite a large area, with only the southwest quadrant being particularly hilly. As a track was only recently blazed into the area, this is where I wished to hunt. How long it takes to collect your buffalo is much the same as in the hunting of any animal. It depends on one's standards and just when the right one comes along. One can't hope to shoot good trophies when taking the first they encounter. Something to keep in mind is that it only takes a few seconds to get lucky and turn even the most difficult hunt around.

"Why is the tracker carrying a rifle? I assume it is a tracker, he is wearing the Swainson's jump suit. Is it his, or someone's spare?"

Some, but not all trackers, earn their stripes and are allowed to carry. Sindiso has done so, in spades and was given his .375 by his PH.

"What are those black "suspenders" worn by the PH? Is it some kind of back support or just to help hold up his belt with the ammo on it?"

A binocular harness. Very comfy for those who glass often, taking stress off the neck, while keeping the binos clear while using the rifle.

"The video introduced everyone at the beginning, but I noticed a gal in some of the shots who looked like a "trainee" PH?"

Our stop at the local viagra bush was denoted as being "for Lances benefit, as his wife was due to visit in two days time". [Big Grin]

"Excellent photography, nice sound track, very realistic (I guess!) Did you take any plains game on this hunt?"

Thank You, Peter. I took no other game but surely would have taken sable or warthog if an exceptional specimen was encountered. I am happy you enjoyed the video, my friend.

Ric,
You are already listed to receive the tape, with only a few members ahead of you.

Lorenzo,
Send me your address and I'll see what I can do.
Quite a few of the guys have assisted me, in making copies for others.

I hope I get to see it before we leave on June 3 -- it sounds like there are some pointers I could use when filming my trip.....

G'day Nick

I'd love to have a look at your video. Does Bakes have a copy down under? If not how can I get a copy? This one must have slipped past me.

Yes, "Bakes" is my Australian distributor! [Wink] [Big Grin]

Seriously, I'm sure Tony Baker will find a way for you and any of our Australian members to view the video. I'm really looking forward to hearing back from my friends there.

Yes, David but under the circumstances it may be best to email Bakes, whom I just received word from yesterday:

"Went fishing, didn't see the big saltie, saw the trap they have out for him, and a few freshies, no fish even! Not that I care, it was good just floating down the river."

As you can readily see, Bakes is a serious sort and I'm sure he'll jump right on it for you! [Big Grin]
