Does anyone have any experience with a South African named Werner van Noordwyk in Zambia? His concession is on the eastern border of Kafue National Park. I am considering booking a 7 day Buf hunt with him in June 2009. Any feedback on him and his area will be greatly appreciated.

I have not hunted in his concession but i do know him as a person. He is a great guy, extreamly friendly and very good at his job. You would have a great hunt with him if you decide to book.

I have had reports about the area and the buffalo numbers are good.

I can get in contact with him if you need anymore info.

I hope this helps.

Good hunting.

Mike

With kind regards

Thanks Mike. I am already in contact with him by email. I am considering going as there is also a new horse safari operation starting up nearby that I want to ride with. I can save money on the ground transfers from Lusaka. The horse safari people say there are huge herds of buffalo.

A horse safari is basically a photo safari while on horseback. There are quite a few in RSA, several in Botswana, Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and I believe one left standing in Zimbabwe. The riding can be very challenging in dangerous game country. I have been charged and chased by elephants half a dozen times while on horseback. I have had some very fast gallops very close to giraffe, eland, zebra and wildebeest. Once, I even got to stampede a herd of about 30 elephants. It was very dusty.
