Sounds like a lot of fun. What are you going to hunt with the smokepoles?

Well since it's my buddys first time, he's after impala, blosbok, common springbok, gemsbok and kudu. I'm after waterbuck, eland, black springbok, warthog and kudu. Any thoughts on a minimum for the eland and waterbuck?? As far as the powder goes.......very carefully!!! wapiti7

I believe that black powder or substitutes are not permitted on airplanes. So you will likely need to make arrangements with your PH or outfitter to supply the powder (and bring enough bullets to confirm sight in or resight.) Good luck! But then you already had plenty when you wre donated your trip!! JPK Free 500grains

Heck, we'll still need luck! Hopefully having 2 smokepoles will allow for a quick follow up if the first one doesn't whack em! We're hunting about an hour from Kimberley. (Idon't know which direction) Still looking for some advice in eland and waterbuck minimums. Thanks guys....wapiti7

How about 28" for the Waterbuck and 35" for the Eland? Nobody will question those and it gets you into Rowland Ward to boot.

Thanks for the help guys. We are hunting with Neil at Ft. Richmond Safaris. Seems like a cool guy. I am really looking for stepping foot onto african soil again! Although it's only a plains game hunt again, I'm having anxiety attacks!!! Anyway, hopefully we will get some good kill shots on film and it will work out.......wapiti7
