Had all three of my trips filmed. Cost varied due to the cost of feeding/housing the photographer. Safari operator should be able to quote you a firm price in advance. I will say while not cheap, it has been the best money I spent. Having professional pictures and video from a hunt without having to worry about who takes them is almost priceless to me. Just my $.02. "Never, ever, book a hunt with Jeri Booth or Detail Company Adventures"

Contact Justin Drainer. The best in the business. he just did 15 days for me and my son. His rates are very fair. If you hunting ouside of Zim it is customary to pay for camera guys travel which is very cheap and safari operators charge between 50 and 100 to feed and house your guy. Again fairly minimal. Justin also incorporates a drone which provides outstanding footage. PM me if you like.

Many Safari operators have their preferred company and or cameraman on staff they use, some are good, some not so good..... I've had both. Safari Classics is excellent, they have done a couple of my hunts and you can't go wrong with them, their cameramen are the best of the best IMO. Igala filmed our family hunt in Nambia last year and they did an excellent job too. Costs are going to be around $300- $375/day plus editing costs, usually about $100-$120/DAY. A lot of the time the hunting company won't charge a daily rate for the cameraperson if they are their own person or if you let them use the footage for their own use, something that can be negotiated. Ask what kind of equipment they are using, current quality cameras play a big role in the quality of the end product. Drone footage is becoming popular and adds a great element, also gopro cameras are used a lot. Unlike taxidermy, filming a hunt is something you won't hear anyone say they regret doing.

Fully agree! JEB Katy, TX Already I was beginning to fall into the African way of thinking: That if you properly respect what you are after, and shoot it cleanly and on the animal's terrain, if you imprison in your mind all the wonder of the day from sky to smell to breeze to flowers—then you have not merely killed an animal. You have lent immortality to a beast you have killed because you loved him and wanted him forever so that you could always recapture the day - Robert Ruark DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

We have used Safari Classics exclusively since 2011 for our annual safari. They set the standard for African videos. They also produce the finest safari hunting shows on TV - Tracks Across Africa, Hornady's Dark & Dangerous, etc. Dave Fulson posts here regularly. I have used other video companies, with varied quality results, prior to 2011. Mike ______________ DSC DRSS (again) SCI Life NRA Life Sables Life Mzuri IPHA "To be a Marine is enough."

How much do you have to pay to suppress publication?! Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Just curious. Have you guys had to pay for travel for your cameraman? Or are they usually from the area where you will be hunting? I have a close friend who is very good and just left a major outdoor gear company. I am trying to convince him to get into the hunting side of things.

Make sure that you have full rights to the footage if you are paying that much. I use to trade fishing trips to guys that were good at film and photos. Sucks watching your hard work on Outdoor or Sportsman Channel later with no mention to you your mate or port of call. It only cost $100.00 to register your footage on copyright.com You need to protect yourself so that your footage is shared with the public in a style that represents your character. Make sure that you tell your videographer that he is not allowed to register your footage with US Copyright office. copyright.gov
