I have hunted the binga area as terry has and found as much game there as I saw in 1994. Russ Broom hunts this area and his client killed a 82 pound ele this year on the second day of her hunt during the day. Trophy elephant are not hunted by broom or his ph's at night. Kyler killed a 60 pounder this year and russ average elephant will be quite large this year. I saw two maned lions I could have shot and leopard hunting is very good. Plains game is always iffy in the valley as its best for ele, buffalo.

I hunted the Dande South area this year with Buzz Charlton. This area does have sections with heavy concentrations of shambas, small villages and one tiny town, Mushimbi. While this can make road travel hazardous ducking and dodging ox and donkey carts and the occasional POS vehicles, I never had the locals interfere with our hunting. The area we were hunting also had huge areas (usually covered in tseste flies) that were uninhabited. Plainsgame is not plentiful but I saw shootable populations of kudu, bushbuck, sable, roan, warthog, impala and bushpig. Not to mention the small stuff like duikers and grysbok. If not hunting for elephant, I could have shot a decent head of game every day! As it was, I took a nice warthog, bushpig and grysbok on that trip along with two elephant. The area really shines for big game. Elephant, buff, leopard and lion. Even saw a leopard during the day! We hunted elephant hard for ten days and no one ever even suggested night hunting. Buzz and his crew, as well as most of the Zim PH's I've met have been among the most professional and ethical I've met in eight safaris to Africa.

Thanks an awful lot for the great feedback guys - lots of interesting, first-hand information. Even information directly from Zim, what more can a man want?? Keep the comments coming.

Let me know what you think of my Bull Elephant.

NE450, I'd tell you what I think, but on that website there are TWO client galleries including a jumbo. So I started searching for the guy with a double rifle... Alas, both of these elephants seem to have been taken with a double rifle... So I'm at a loss about what to say here...
