Could anyone recommend a series/set of DVD's that depict the History of Africa...in regards to wars and colonialism and governments? I always miss the great stuff on the History Channel...I think it's about time I invest in learning a bit about the history of a continent that fascinates me in every way.

If you mean documentaries, most of the best ones we see here are on the History Channel so you might like to search their website to see what you can find. Dramas are a bit more diverse and I guess that nice Mr Google might be able to help you there. If you want a really great audio history of the Anglo-Zulu wars, you might like to do a Google on 'Day Of The Dead Moon' by David Rattray...... you need a lot of time to listen to it but it's simply fantastic!

I hope you realise that you're going to have a lifetime of viewing (and reading) ahead of you. Programmes and books tend to be made/written about individual country, individual person and individual peoples rather than by continent and the history of those are very extensive indeed. The history for the Afrikaaners alone is immense and extremely interesting and probably the one I'd recommend you start with because in many ways, they moulded the entire continent.
