I'm going to presume everyone who posts here and says they want to shoot old scrum cap dugga boys are telling the truth. I just finished watching the Boddington on lion video and there is strong encouragement for shooting the old lion that have been driven from the pride. These lions all were impressive but are a little "shopworn" in appearance. Good manes and big wide horned buffalo have always been the reasons for the safari to western Tanzania that costs an arm and leg. If hunters are buying into the current selection process why spend the money? It certainly makes Zimbabwe and Mozambique make more sense. I guess I'm just a little skeptical what is happening on line and what is happening in practice.

I have only done it once and it was in the mid 90's. I hunted the Moyowasi. As far as buffalo went, I have never seen anything like it. There were a hell of a lot of buffalo. I saw herds that numbered well over 1,000. I have a picture somewhere of me walking around near a lion bait. I hear a noise. A sea of buffalo appeared before me. I recon there were at least 2,000! This was a sight I will never forget. I didn't get a leopard. I took my first lion. To be honest, I should never have shot it. It was the only opportunity I had. It was interesting though. The lion had chased a buff bull onto a pan. The buff broke through the caked layer and was stuck. The lion proceeded to eat him right there. Is it worth it? That is an individual decision. It is certainly expensive. There is one hell of a long charter that won't be cheap nor fun. I understand your concern.

Now days you pay more for the privilege of hunting old Africa. To witness the vast herds and endless horizons. Remnants of how it used to be. Well worth saving for. ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

all the old bulls aren't scrub, there are nice old timers out there. in fact one of my better ones was a real old timer that was about on his last legs. (i find it's easier to sneak up on them if they can hardly walk)

I could only afford PG on my one and probably only hunt to TAN but I added some touring....what great herds and heads of Buffalo roamed the Norongoro Crater and Tangire NP's...and beautiful full maned Lions....guess the answer to your question is what do you want and what can you afford? BTW, I was supposed to have Buff on my trip but TanWiCo pulled my tag for a 28 day hunter.....mine was a cancellation hunt that a friend got them to offer me....he no longer works with them. We thught we had Buff until the day after he arrived....they also cancelled Gerenuk after I booked---government reduced their quota they said----okay....we of course saw three record book Gerenuk in easy range and a monster Cape Buff on Kitumbumbie while Bush Buck hunting----all easily kills if I had a tag! But I aint unhappy with the hunt---killed monster Lesser Kudu and EA Bush Buck. South Natron. The hunt, staff and accomodations were great.Took the first Kongoni on the concession in years! And it was a nice one!
