gumboot,
yes it is a Jefferies, but the original stock was trashed by a hyena, and so was the floorplate and I believe the peep sight was crushed beyond reprieve, so these have been replaced. I should have the peep sight fitted in time for the season.

starting from the top, 500NE, Jefferies 4004, Win pre'64 mod 70 375 H&H, Win pre'64 with Shilen stainless match bbl in 30-06, Zastava actioned 308 with Madco stainless match bbl and lastly Zastava actioned 223 with musgrave bbl.
I used to use the 375 as a back-up rifle, and still use the 500 as my personal DG rifle.
But these are all available for use by clients.

This is the varmint special which is used for jackal, baboon and other such like critters, she groups comfortably under an inch at 300m.

And finally, for those lads who are on the north side of 45, these mauser cocking piece peep sights are made here by a buddy in durban, and will be adorning the 404, which had a peep sight at some stage of its life judging by the bolt.

It is shown next to a 45acp cartridge for scale.

375,

my preferences are as follows;
500NE - 570gr woodleigh softs, 570gr GSC FN solids
404 - GSC solids and RWS leftover solids (still settling on a load)
375 - Barnes 300gr xxx and 300gr GSC FN solids
30-06 GSC HV 150gr and Barnes XXX 168gr
308 - GSC 130gr HV

So I guess I am pretty much a GSC convert Cool

Very nice rifles!

If I could impose, could you snap a couple of more pictures of the top two rifles rear sights.

I am building a file of rifles I like, so I have pretty pictures to point to when trying to describe what I want to the gunsmith!!! Wink

500Nitro,

I see your DG .500 is a Ruger No1? Would a double or bolt be better? I personally would not use a single shot but each to their own, have you ever needed a quick second shot with this rifle? you have some very nice rifles.

Karl,
You sure got the eye for lines..and those nice rifles can all be used with irons or scope. I like your style.

Karl,

I'm curious about the availability of 9.3x64 ammo in Africa. I was given a 9.3x64; very cool rifle with very scarce ammo. Do you reload or is there factory ammo available where you are?
