Heading to Botswana to hunt in late May with Tim Herald. Want to spend 3 or so days in the Okavango Delta area seeing the animals, birds and maybe fish a little. Anyone have a recommendation for this? I have a couple in mind but thought I would ask the wisdom of AR!!!

I'll be up there with you and the Okavango side trip doesn't sound bad

Check with Wilderness Safaris, maybe by now they have all of the Delta under their control!

If you are interested in a self drive or Overland Adventure with luxury fly camps and great food I can highly recommend Brett Hoy.
His service is world class and he knows the bush better than anyone I know.

He is also a world class photographer and believes in Hunting as a conservation tool. He has awesome stories to tell too.

He also tailors packages to your needs and has a full list of lodges that you can look at as options

We stayed at Okavango River Lodge and loved it. Had a great time cruising around the river looking at game with their boat. I think they also do vehicle tours.

I can highly recommend Walk Botswana Safaris for a variety of reasons. The owner, Gareth Flemix, is intimately knowledgeable on the Delta, a licensed PH and hunter so understands your needs, will get you up close and personal to the game, an excellent tour guide, expert photographer and will custom tailor your safari to what you want to do. Have a look at their Facebook page here for some sample photos etc. Walk Botswana Safaris

Contact Gareth at gareth@walkbotswanasafaris.com and mention my name

Great place for any kind of outdoor adventure, PM me if you want more details

Good luck

Paul

Last year I drove up from Rustenburg to Victoria falls. This was right off of the road in Northern Botswana. All free range and it is dangerous to drive here at night because the elephants are on the road. Their eyes are so high that you do not see the glow in the headlights before it is too late. Zoom in and check out ivory on front bull.

Botswana has one of the widest spectrum of operators and lodges based on wildlife tourism .
Can I suggest you stay clear of anti hunting operators such as Great Plains and its affiliates , Wilderness is the biggest with the widest range under one roof , but bear in mind Kwando Safaris is a pro hunting operator who was once Hunters Africa and a lot of the areas are old hunting areas. A massive suggestion is to add on 3 nights at Nxumerseri Fishing camp - this is prime Delta Panhandel area with stunning waterways. Let me know if you need any info , we live in Maun and know all the operators. Graeme Pollock saf.bots@info.bw
