Harry, The makers do this because the can, and the "gun rags" facilitate the charade by not writing about it. If more attention was brought from the buying public, some adult attention might be focused where it needs to be. jim

MAybe Winchester quit making them because of all the bitching about them on AR. I have a Mod.70 .375 in stainless, just like new that I'll sell you for $14,764.

Harry: I called Winchester on this very issue about 4 months ago. They are not scheduled to go into production of 375 H&Hs and up until NOVEMBER! I guess they are just obsessed with those ridiculous short mags. jorge

Hopefully, they will use the time to work out the problems that plauged many of the last batch of right hand .375's. As previously posted, I had TWO that would not feed and Winchester was unable to fix them. Thank goodness for good private gunsmiths. Unfortunately, I see Winchester headed down the same dismal road that Colt took in the 70's and 80's- declining quality, declining finances, and (here's the good part) smart competition running away with the market. Now we just need someone to make the same design with better quality and equal or lower price, like several companies did with the 1911. BTW, my Model 70 .375 might be for sale a lot cheaper than Will's- I'd probably let it go for $14,000 flat.

I try and keep a stock of Win. 70 Safari Grades in stock at all times. Well I ran out of both right and left had 375's. I was not surprised when I could not find LEFT HAND 375's as Winchester only made one run of them as best I can tell but...after calling 14 distributors across the USA yesterday I found Zero in right hand. Some distributors telling me then last had them in early 2003. Now I am a little guy and buying 6 Safari Grades in 416 Rem Mag and 6 each right and left 375 is about all my checkbook will choke at one time so it makes me madder than all get out when I can't at least find right handers a year later! The left handers were cataloged for years before they ever made the one run. I am aware that certain calibers, models etc are made in runs just like furniture from a manuf. but damn... Looks like if you need a 375 you best look to CZ or hang on another ??? months. Another bitch...I have the little Marlin lever rifles in 32 H&R sold too IF....Marlin would ever ship any. Why announce something if you are not going to make the damn thing? It has been nearly a year since the announcement. As to left hand Mod 70's in 375. Seems you would just make a 500 or 750 pc. run of them every 18 months or so and I would think that would keep the pipeline full all the time and no sales missed. Bah! Humbug!

Quote: I would be more than pleased if the M70 becomes to rifles what the Colt M1911a1 has become to handguns. You can buy a 1911 from many, many sources at prices between US$400 and $4,000. You choose your price level, vote with your money and voila! You can even find a left-handed version if you think you need it. jim
