retreeverMike, The Talbot QD mounts sound very interesting. If sumbuddy out there has a picture handy of them, that would be great. The bases being more expensive than the rings is interesting, and puts them a bit above the Talley's in price. The old German claw mount is still hard to beat, but that is a custom proposition with a goodly wait time.

http://www.answerrifles.com/talbot.htm Not very good pictures here ... Looks like the bases are pretty bulky and might block the line of sight for low iron sight use? Of course one could have a second set of rings for the backup scope and to heck with the iron sights, eh?

Rich, I really don't know anything about them, other than what I found on the above website.

You're right Ray. The Talbot's are expensive: $180-$190 for the base, and $50-$70 for the rings. The contact information is: Talbot QD Mounts 2210 East Grand Blanc Rd. Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439 Tel: 810-695-2497 You can read a good review of them here www.snipersparadise.com/newproducts/talbotQDmounts.htm

mike416Rigby, Do the Talbot's allow one to mount the scope far enough ahead so us stock crawlers don't end up looking like Rocky after the fight? Rich Elliott

as far as reliabilty goes, I would say they aren the same. However, the Talleys are much nicer rings, in terms of design, maching, and finish

Mike, here's a picture of the Warne's that failed on my Ruger .458 Lott. I need to call them and see if they will replace them, although I emailed them twice but have not heard back Looking at the positive - the Leupold 1.5-5x20 held up great! This should not be a problem on the .375. I have a .416 Model 70 with QD Tally's that Ray A installed, and they work really well.

Of these two brands, which is the more reliable, or are they pretty much equal? They will be used on a Winchester Mod. 70, in 375 H&H, and the scope has a 30mm tube.
