Combining Trophy shipments?

Thunder HeadCombining Trophy shipments?
Another AR member and myself are looking into combining or trophy shipment. Is there anything we need to know.
I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

BigBBearCall John Meehan at Flora and Fauna. I have done it many times and he can handle it for you. You have a small charge for the double clearance and there are probably some things if you have CITES animals but I have done it with both. Do not let anyone tell you, you cannot (Coppersmith). What you need to watch for is accurate paperwork and treated wood.

L. David KeithIt also depends where your final destination is. F&F can truck to many places but they import in New York. As long as each hunter has their own paperwork, you can combine shipments. LDK

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

shakariI think you'll find it's not as easy or as sensible as first appears and at least partly depends on where the trophies are coming from and going to but I'd suggest a degree of caution if you are going to do it.
All it takes is for the wrong paperwork or the wrong trophy to be put in the crate and you can both have problems (especially coming into the USA).
Bearing in mind the possible saving is probably not more than a couple of hundred dollars it might not be worth the trouble.

HuttyI have done combined shipments on my last 4 trips hunts. They have included leopard, elephant, baboons, buff, and all sorts of plains game.
I have never had a problem with combined shipments, just make sure each hunter has his paperwork. I am fortunate that I leave near an airport (BWI) which imports trophies. I have cleared all crates myself and both USFWS and Customs officials have been professional and helpful. I have my buddy who I share the crate with sign a simple power of attorney to clear his shipment and load it into my truck.
The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense

dande_jackI combined a shipment of trophies taken in Zim and S,A. a numberof years ago. After aboiut 15 months and many phin calls it got straightened out.
a nightmare it was.If this is what your thinking,I'd recommend separate shipments. DandeJack

graybirdAnother option is to have separate crates for each hunter, but ship all crates as a single shipment. That way each hunter has their own paperwork, crate of trophies, etc., but you save some money on the shipping itself.

adamhunterI shipped combined from Namibia and about to ship combined again from SA. The Namibian agent sent me copies of all the paper work at my request to have just in case. I had Coppersmith clear it and had no problems. Will probably clear this one myself. I would ask for copies of the paperwork from the D&P and Shipping agent before they send it though. Dont know if it would help if anything goes wrong, but it might.
