Boy, oh boy! This guy really has it all: great boss, deep curl and super width. How wide do you think he is?? He must be in the upper 40-ies or close to 50... (if not above?)

He would also score well on the SCI scale (if anybody cares) due to his long tips. Normally, long tips are not a sign of age, so is he just medium age?? Note also, how his boss has not yet been worn down to become smooth, that could also indicate he is not THAT old.

Definately a shooter. Let's see ear width @35 inches, outside ears 8 inches so at least
35 + 16=51 inches. I guess I overestimated the
outside ears measurement. Does someone have this one on a wall??

The really maddening aspect of seeing these animals who have never been hunted is that these are the only ones the typical tourist sees and they think that buffalo hunting consists of driving up to one of these and shooting Roll Eyes He sure puts the one hanging on my wall to shame tho! Eeker

Are they older than the ones living in the hunting areas or it's just because better genetics?

It seems to me that similar thing happends with elephants, are we shooting them before they reach their plenitude.....???

If it's just genetics we must do some AI with tame animals and release them in the Selous Big Grin

To add to your collection, here's one I took there recently as well. Think the one nearest to the front is the same as the first buff that you posted?

It looks to me like the first buff posted has more drop and the tips don't come back up as far as your buff.

All are incredible buff. A friend and I spent 10 hours in the crater one day; 8-1/2 hours were spent glassing buffalo. We'd sit in the high-rack of the hunting car glassing a herd for an hour at a time while the tour buses would come and go. The photo tourists must have thought we were nuts - and they were almost right, we were certainly going nuts.

Great buffs. the way they should look.

the strangest thing is that J.A Hunter could have bouth the whole Ngorongro crater for almost nothing. But he turned it down. What a shame. probably the only mistake that man did in his whole life.
