I'm excited!

Thursday afternoon we poured the footers for the trophy room I'm constructing off the back side of my house. The room is 30' deep, by 24' wide. It will have 10' walls and a 10/12-pitch vault with a 52-inch fireplace on one end.

Comes not a minute too soon, as I got word from my taxidermist that the first three of my dozen African mounts are now ready.

I just ordered two Zulu shields and crossed spears from RSA to place over the fireplace with a kudu head in between. They shoud be here about the time the room is finished. It will be nice to finally have a place to put my trophies that my wife can't b--ch about. THIS ROOM IS MINE! ALL MINE!

I own a construction company, so I'll be able to produce the room pretty reasonably, but furnishing it is another matter. Years from now I'll probably have a beautiful room full of mounted heads with absolutely no furniture. I'll come home from work every day and have to sit on the floor to admire them. But who cares -- it's MINE, ALL MINE!

Sounds like the only furnishing you'll need is two leather chairs and a table to set your sundowner on while you relive old memories with (stuffed) friends. Anything else would take up the room needed for future full body mounts.

That is great! Hope you can survive the wait. As for furniture, I saw Saeed had converted some elephant feet into stools, you could make a fire pit in the center and encircle with them. If you ever get tired of the fire pit look, you could empty and add a croc!!

You are now well and truly "hooked". Never look back. Enjoy your new retreat .

Wife and I actually went window shopping for furniture this afternoon. Also looked at TVs. I'd like to put a BIG one in the room -- big enough to see clearly from the furtherest point. Big plazmas are out of the question. It'll be a cold day in hell before I'll pay over 10 grand for television.

But Gateway has a 56-inch digital HD-ready TV that is every bit as clear as the big plazmas for $3,500. Still pricy, but a lot better than $10,000.

Congratulation on your new addition. It took me 28 years to get my trophy room, but it was worth the wait. I know you'll enjoy yours as much as I do mine. If you haven't thought of it, look into a home theater system for the room. They're great!

Sounds great! You have quite alot of wall space to fill up!

If possible post some pics as the building goes along. I always like to see what others do for trophy rooms.

Regards,
Dave
