Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have booked our hunt for this year in two areas of Tanzania.

We will hunt Kizigo for a few days, then move on to Ugala for the rest of the safari.

Alan Vincent is going to be our PH, and his father Roy is going to be joining us as well.

Walter, of course, is coming along too, despite all our efforts to leave him behind.

Roy and Alan and their families were with us earlier this month, and Walter made sure he kept them on their toes.

Of course, we cannot pass a few days without him getting up to one of his regular tricks.

He came over, and was supposed to bring one of his rifles with him. He appeared without it.

Me "Where is the rifle?"
Walter "It is at home."

Me "How am I supposed to develop loads for it if it is at your home?"
Walter "If I tell you why I did not bring it you will make fun of me"

Me "Walter, no one makes fun of you, we just like to remind you to be a normal human being, forgetting that you are not!"
Walter "You see, you are already making fun of me. And when I tell you what happened you will laugh even more!"

Me "Come on, tell us what happened?"
Walter "OK, the rifle is in the safe. And I have forgotten the combination to open the safe"

Me "Typical! What are you going to do now?"

I was cleaning a rifle as we talekd.

Walter "You better sit down before I tell you what happened next. I went to the chemist, and bought a stethescope"

ME, laughing so hard I had to sit "You have been watching too many Hollywood movies! So what happened?"

Walter "In the chemist they had 3 models of stethescopes. One at 110 dirhams, one 180 dirham and one at 250 dirhams. The man in the shop said I should buy the most expensive, because it is the best. I told him I only needed it to open a safe. And you know what he said next? He asked if it was MY safe! Anyway, he said if I bought the cheap model it might not work, so will have to go back and buy the expensive one. That will make it more expensive, as I would have two stethescopes. So I bought the best one"

Me "It did not work ha?"
Walter "How do you know it did not work?"

Me "Because if you opened the safe you would have brought the rifle, wouldn't you, you nitwit?"

Walter "I will try something else, and I will open it"

Me "Why don't you take the 577 T.Rex and shoot the lock off?"

Walter "I am not going to shoot that bloody thing. Anyway, the safe is in a place I cannot shoot"

So his rifle is still in the safe, and despite my suggestions that he calls the safe company to open it, he has refused.

As they say in the South, "Ya'll have fun, now!"

We all love the videos, of course. Keep them coming, please!

Anna was home last night for Spring Break. She had a friend visiting and told her favorite Dubai story of the guys snow skiing in their Arab robes. Her friend said it made her think of the dichotomy of hot fudge on an ice cream... I kind of understood her reasoning??? Two things that don't seem to go togother until you try it.

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

That is great Saeed. Have a great hunt. thumb

Now, you know if you left Walter at home, your safari would not be complete. It just wouldn't be the same! dancing

Walter has finally found someone with his level of intelligence!

We have a home theater with a 103" plasma screen.

He is there right now watching SPACE DOGS in Blu-Ray with my daughter. He insisted my wife prepares popcorn for them to eat while watching the movie.

And ice cream during the break.

Hessa told him there is no break in the movie. He then explained to her that in the movie theater they do have a break, and normally people buy ice cream then.

So they are going to have ice cream when Walter decides it is time for a break!

I honestly do not know how that man can eat so much sweets!

At least I can do some work down in the workshop without having to keep an eye on him!

Great blocks and a great safari company, Saeed.

I will have to get to central Tanzania some day . . .

Best of luck!

Walter seems to have an age appropriate babysitter to watch over him.

I've hunted both Kizigo and Ugala/Muhuba. The contrast will be stunning. Which camp in Kizigo? I believe that Kizigo is the best Tanzanian kudu destination I've ever been to. Ugala is like hunting on a golf course, except with lots of super animals. Your group will have a memorable time as did I. MMP

I have no idea what camp we will be hunting from.

Regardless, though, we tend to enjoy it wherever it is.

We are all looking forward to it, and will enjoy all the little preparations we have to do before the hunt.

Job number one is to form new brass for my rifles.

Some of the cases I have been using since 1995! Some are beginning to split at the necks and shoulder.

They shoot just as well.

But, I thought I might retire some, and keep the rest as backup.

We form our cases from either 416 Dakota brass or 404 brass.

We do not have any 416 Dakota cases, so Norma 404 brass is going to be used.

Neil Jones made me a custom forming die. It is a wrk of art, and has several bushings to reduce the necks without casing any damage.

I use this die for form brass from 404 down to to 270/404.

For the 375/404 it is rather easy, as I run the 404 case through a forming die with a 0.370 bushing.

This has the added advantage of forming a second shoulder, on which the case headspace.

The best part is Walter has left this morning to South America, so I will have some time alone to do some useful work! clap
