In Honor of a Legend Ian “Gibbo” Gibson

Hi All,

If you don’t know me my name is Richie Schultz, I am a PH in Zim and proud to be!!!
I would like to share this with you all to honor and keep the memory alive of such a great man.
I never got the chance to go to Gibbo’s funeral service and I wish I could have, so I suppose this is my way of saying goodbye to him.
It was something I wanted to do for him and his family. (Thank you to those who helped, you know who you are)
As I know Mwanja was his home, he’d always say that he was going to build a little shack and retire down there.
Gibbo’s kids chose what to say on the stone and I think it fits him perfectly!!!!!!

Gibbo you are a Legend and I will never let your stories and memories fade!!!!

Rest in peace!!!!

Hi Richie
It had been an ambition of mine to meet Gibbo because I had heard so many stories from Buzz and other PHs who regarded him as an exceptional elderman of their profession, sadly that will now never happen.
Well done for maintaining Gibbo in people's memory.
Regards
Rob

Being in the construction business, I wanted to build such a tribute for Ian.
Mwanja valley was certainly his domain.

Had the pleasure of spending better than a week with Gibbo while Buzz and I hunted tuskless out of the Five Star Camp All the younger PH's looked up to Gibbo as the master hunter. He knew Chwore North like the back of his hand.

Always appreciated his humor and good conversation at dinner. RIP

Fitting tribute to a great man. met Ian when he was the ranger stationed in sapi Safari area in the early 1980's. He like many other guys who left the parks department went professional hunting,He was a true conservationists and had a passion for our great outdoors. The "valley" was his home for the best part of 35 years, 27 of which he was in chewore Safari area. Rest in peace "chikwenya"

Well done and a fitting memorial to a man who knew Chewore North like the back of his hand and loved the wild lands he hunted.
