Any experience/opinions regarding taking sidetrips and what to do with your firearms.
Could they simply be shipped home at the end of a safari, allowing you to then travel on to other destinations as a tourist?

thanks,

I've always been of the opinion that I you're not dead dog tired at the end of your safari, you haven't played hard enough. Do the side trips first.

I don't believe it is legal to ship your firearms and ammunition on an airplane unless you are also a passenger on that airplane.

With RSA's law about securing firerarms, you may be required to stay where they have a safe so they can properly secure your firearms.

Terry

In RSA Air 2000 can legally hold your guns while you are touring even out of the country. In Tanzania we can legally hold a client's guns in the company office while they are on tour and once again even if they are out of the country for a short while. I would imagine a similiar arrangement could be made in other countries but I have no first hand knowledge of it.

Intenationally, the rules of most countries preclude your leaving the country without your firearms. It is OK to travel in the same country with them in storage. When going from Zambia to RSA this year, we could not leave the rifles in Zambia. We were just touring in RSA and did not want to put up with the bullcrap with firearms there. Our itinerary was Zambia-RSA-Zambia and them home. It was not possible and the rediculous firearms rules will insure I won't hunt or tour RSA for a some time to come.
