After 5 years out of Africa we have decided to return to Namibia for our mission. This was a difficult decision as i have an 16 and 18 year old boys a 7 old daughter and a 5 year old son. My two older boys have no other plans than to be ministers as well, probably missionaries. It will take 1.5 years to get our funds raised. We will be working with national pastors and starting new churches in rural areas and relief and development. I have met several of you face to face in Namibia and hope to again as you come through. It was always refreshing to spend time with people from this forum. IN fact you all encouraged me in difficult times (wife was sick) more than my supporters from the church world. But that is another subject for another day.

Aaron

PS - I only hunted 6 days in three years while living there... I was just trying to survive... but now I know how to live in Africa... I'll hunt more this time mainly for the meat... eland, kudu and oryx

Aaron,
I wish you and your family every success! Perhaps another old double rifle will find it's way into your hands in Namibia!

Aaron,
I'm ready to come and help you in getting meat Wink
I do not need too much, a tent, a camp bed, a sleeping bag, some liter of good water (to wash myself and drink) and some food daily. Laundry and ironing welcome but not mandatory. I could do it by myself.
Smiler

Best wishes, and let us know where you will be, eventually it will possible to meet there.

Aaron,
after "stomping" around in the concrete jungle for some years on and off I just returned back to Namibia myself...this time for good...no place like home! So far I've never looked back and enjoy every single minute of it. I'm sure you'll do likewise.

Congratulations on going back Aaron. I know from talking with you in the shop and elsewhere just how much you loved being there. How long will you be there? Is this potentialy a permanent move? Hopefully our paths will cross again in the future. Good luck and God Bless.

A good friend or ours runs an orphanage in Namibia. Her name is Brenda Johnston and she gave up an unreal career in behind the scenes entertainment to go there. Been there for about 10 years. Another guy named Mike Dunn from our old church joined her misson about 2 years ago.
I wish you all the best Aaron....may God Bless you for your efforts and commitment.

Gary,

I don't know your people that are there... but will probably get to know them. The whole AIDS orphan thing is one of our hearts burdens. We like the idea of small group homes ran by widows and supported by the church. This gives the kids a "normal" family live and doesn't institutionalise them... however orphanages are needed too due to volume.

Jack,

Yes to HIM be all glory.... i am but a worm... a sinner saved by grace.

If anyone wants to be on our newsletter list you can email...

Shona,

It's funny... with my last name I blend in there quite well. I just need to keep my mouth shut so I don't give away my american accent. It will be nice to meet you... How is the fishing these days? High sulfer content was ruining the fishing when i was there.

Shona,

The many Rust in Namibia include the one of the very first missionaries - Heinrich Friedrick Gottlieb Rust (mid 1800s). He was a Rheinish missionary and was from a place in Germany that was only 90 miles from where my great grandfather came from. Related... yes... Just don't know how... Was the Rust that married you Catholic? I know the Lutheran Christ Church had a staff pastor with the same last name....

Regarding our time of arival: We have a very large budget to raise plus we have 4 kids. Our mission is projecting 18 months before we accually land... I am hoping that it can be done in that ammount of time as the economy hasn't recovered and missions giving has tanked as well. I am always looking for unique ways of finding support - so with some creativity and God's help we will get it done.

Aaron
PS... it takes some biltong to keep these boys going...

Gentlemen,

a brief suggestion, if I may. Missionaries live at about the same standard of living as the people they work among on missions. If fifty of us regular guys here would commit to an auto-deduct to Aaron's mission society here in the US, where the transaction would take place; this would be a safe way to do so and wonderful AR contribution to the good of Africa in the Lord's name. Ten or fifteen dollars a month would look like a million dollars to them. Those of you who have been to Africa know what one dollar means to someone there.

Search your hearts and see if there are a couple extra dollars in your wallets that could help out.
My wife and I have already talked about this, and we are in.

Aaron,
When you get situated and know what you need from the states, please post. Your missions would be great places for Safari Blue Bags. I also like Rich's idea. God bless your efforts.

Rich, I draw support for my sanity from this board. When things seemed to be going south in a hurry while living in Africa and while my wife was sick... I was greatly encouraged by having some time with like minded people. I have made some great friends and highly value my time here. I had a couple office jobs that limited my time the last couple years and I am glad that office time is over. I appreciate the moral support and if anyone wants to support us financially that is great too...

Kevin... will do! I like the idea of Safari Blue Bags and will be happy to find suitible needy schools or orphanages etc.

Jeff... Luke the oldest and furthest right is 18 and is either going to play rugby or MAA fighting after football season. He is 5'10" 220. Ethan is 16 and is 6'2" and 275. - Size 15EE shoe... Both have plans on being missionarie or pastors.

Our daughter (7) was born in Namibia and is african-american! Smiler Our Levi was the tag along to keep his sister company.

Hi Aaron!

Those boys of yours look like interior linemen to me! Some football program is losing out big time with them leaving the U.S. Best of luck to you and your family and let me know how that 9.3x62 works for ya.

I applaud you and your family's devotion, and wish you much success in your endeavors, but I have a question (curiosity forces me to ask): when there are plenty of starving/needy people stateside, why is it you choose to minister in foreign lands? I am NOT looking to start an argument, but rather am genuinely curious...

The need for america is truely great without a doubt. I sense a call from God to be in Africa. I can see great need in america, china, india, central and south america... But I am called to Africa. I understand them and can connect extreemly well with them and their culture. Its more about "calling" than anything else. I hope you understand me... if not give me a call and I'll try to clarify for you if you want.
