Seems middle age at best. Slender ivory, but with some length. I'm guessing 35-40lbs.

It'd be quite a trick if it were an udder between the hind legs.
Is it a shooter? ....... depends on area, client, PH and reason for shooting, but this one surely ain't on it's last set of teeth and surely isn't past breeding age........ so not for me as a trophy.
Not the best pic in the world though.
Is it the first or last day of the hunt?!

If this was a buffalo bull or a lion of the same relative age, everyone would be saying it is immature and shouldn't be shot. Do we have a double standard here? Just wondering.

Would I rather shoot a couple of the elephants that Shakari posted? Of Course! (although they are probably in National Parks!) When I look at the ivory on the original post. I see tusks I would be happy to own. Therefore, I shoot! I'll leave the second guessing and internet experts to their own games. Obviously an older, heavier tusked elephant would be more desireable, and probably a lot more expensive as well. I can see this ele for what he is, a nice bull to have taken.

While we all want the 100lb'er, I say that if you're happy with this bull, and have the opportunity to hunt him, by all means!! If I was in an area that was know as producing bulls such as this, and not much better, I'd take him in a heartbeat and be as happy as if I had shot the next world record.. Remember, even if he's not the fabled 100lber, you're still ELEPHANT HUNTING!!! And you can't beat that! If I was in a locale such as Botswana or northern Namibia, that's known to produce the extremely heavy ivory, I'd probably keep looking on him in that circumstance.. maybe.

buckeyeshooterI must soberly add, that a decision on shooting the elephant shown could also be greatly infleuenced by where and with whom you are hunting him. Specifically, how thick your wallet is to pay for the trophy fee based on the weight of the tusks. It could be quite possible that this one fits into your ability to pay the trophy fee.

tendramsIf given the choice, on the last day of the hunt, between the pictured bull and an absolutely ancient bull with two tusks broken off near the lip, I wonder which animal most here would take.

I almost had another guy drive into me when I stopped to take this photo.
I wanted to take more photos and the other guy just wanted to get past the elephant as quickly as possible...
