an italian guy, Daniele Ventriglia, offered me a hunt in the IH1 BLOCK of SELOUS GAME RESERVE.
The company seems to be KANTANTA HUNTING SAFARIS LTD
Any infos? Experience in the area?

My feedback would be that concession doesn't seem to exist. I would ask again to make sure IH1 is correct. Perhaps things have changed, but follow the link bellow and look at the first map of the Selous.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

I wonder if it's outside of the Selous proper?

Here's an add:

Inside the Selous - small concession - not bad but nothing to write home about.
Sounds luck a sub-leasing effort.

An easy way to work out what's in or outside the SGR is the blocks inside the reserve are designated with letters and numbers. The letter(s) refer to the rivers and the number(s) to the number of blocks in that area.

Hence K1 for example is Kilombero 1 etc. If it has 2 letters it's referring to 2 of the rivers.

The buffer zone area(s) that are actually outside but adjoining the reserve have names such as Gonabisi etc.

The block is 423 square kilometers. It is on a map dated 2004. The concession is North of LU5 (Roy and Alan Vincent's area) and West of LU4

http://www.wildlife-baldus.com...20-%20PART%20III.pdf

The map is about five or six pages down.

Masailand Hunting Company was awarded the rights for that area in 2013.

http://www.huntingreport.com/i...a-chart_2012_Feb.pdf

They also have LU4 and K3.

The hunt is being advertised as "KANTANTA HUNTING SAFARIS LTD/MASAILAND HUNTING CO." so it does not appear to be a sub-lease.

No insight as to the quality of the area, poaching, etc.
