CMS SECURE HAMMOND IN SAVE
Hi Folks

I am excited to let you all know that CMS have secured the exclusive hunting rights on Hammond Ranch in the Save for 2011.

Arguably the best buffalo hunting in the country. Hammond will offer our regular clients that have hunted Dande Safari area and Makuti several times to experience hunting an area with fantastic plains game and have a very realistic chance of getting an outstanding buffalo. It will also give us the opportunity to sell top quality plains game hunts which the Valley does not offer.

Alan has just finished a hunt there and said that he saw several buff bulls in the mid 40s in very large herds as well as numerous Dugga boys. The plains game is excellent and while leopard is harder then our other areas when you do get one they are BIG! The camp can only be described as 5 star!

We have taken over the hunting from Zambezi Hunters, who you all will be familiar with from numerous hunt reports. They are not only one of the countries best operators but both Johnny and Alistair are good mates and have given us their blessing and we look forward to having them as our neighbours.

Cheers for now Buzz

That is wonderful. I stopped by there last month and had a beer with the owner, Mrs. Schenck. What a beautiful lodge and excellent acquisition. Good Luck.

It is a great place. I have been there the last 2 years. Tons of buff and plains game. I shot a lion there in 09.

Great news, Buzz. As Mike said, another impressive advancement for Charlton McCallum. Claudia and I are looking forward to being the first to book a safari there.

By the way, for those with experience there, how about posting some representative photos of both the lodge and the concession? Larry? Butch?

In my two trips there, I stayed on the ARDA property. I have never been in the Hammond lodge.

Do a search for my 2009 and 2010 reports. There are pictures in those of the area.

Hi Guys

Sorry I meant to write 2012 not 11! Sorry to cause any unnecessary panic. I will post pics as soon as I have them. Thanks for the kind comments! Cheers Buzz

Best of luck!

Good country that. I spent 15 days down that way last year as well as a few nights in the Hammond Camp.

Shot a leopard and a buffalo there.

Good luck to CMS.

Makorokoto Buzz and Myles! Excellent news and a couple of guys more worthy of acquiring such a prime hunting block I cannot think of.

Gentlemen, it is my word and nothing more, but these are the guys to back. This is the hope for hunting and conservation in this country. If these guys and a handful of other reputable operators go down - ZH, Mokore, RWS, Shangaan, Muller/Watson/Walker - to name a few from the handful, so does hunting and wildlife in this country, my word on that too. Charlton/McCullum do it properly, my final word on that.

Buzz,
Great news, my friend. I still fondly remember our hunt there in '05 and you and Dad taking a superb kudu bull! The Hammond property has some fantastic plainsgame both in quality and quantity... and some rather cheeky elephant cows! Plus the lodge there is second to none. Well done and good hunting in the future... by the way, don't you still owe me on a bet we made? Something to do with a kopje and a baboon in Hammond?

Great news! Now I suppose I have to figure out what to do after 2013.
Did I see something about cheeky elephant cows?

Plenty of them. No tuskless permits in the Save I am told. The reason being that they may have to shoot others in self defense given their general bad attitude..

How many acres are in the Hammond block and does it border on the Turgwe or Save river? How does it lay in relation to Humani?

Beautiful camp. Stayed there in 2008 with my dad at the same time Anton was there. He was hunting with Johnny Hulme and we were hunting with Ivan Carter. Had a great time in a very pretty setting. Saw tons of buff! Anton - I can't help stop laughing at the picture with the tortoise and Johnny taking a leak in the background. LOL, classic! Good luck Buzz!

I'll take a shot . . .

40k if I recall correctly. ARDA lies to the East and Senuko to the north. Mkwasine Estates and Nyangambe to the South, again, if I recall correctly. Non-conservancy property to the West. No Save River frontage nor Turgwe River. The Mkwasine River runs the southern boundary. Humani is North on the main road via Senuko and Makore.

Nailed it Will, and so you should have since you're pretty much a resident in the conservancy now! Smiler

Buzz - are you going to be neighbors with Leon Du Plessis and Mike Payne? I hunted with Mike in June, and I saw first hand the game you have described at Hammond.

Hammond is about as far as you can go from Leon and Mike's place and still be in the SVC.
