Hey guys, just subscribed to Sports Afield, have noticed that I seldom see any hunting magazines on the stands at my local (kalifornia) stores and the ones I do see are about deer hunting. No problem with that, but would like to see some more on Africa and something not quite as tainted by commercial interests. Is Sporting Classics the one that had a buffalo on the cover a couple of years ago during the SCI convention (they were handing them out)? Any other good magazines you all recommend? Thanks Red

The African Sporting Gazette is great, fantastic pictures and articles about hunting, mainly from a visiting hunter's point of view. Man Magnum is less artistic, but gives a great impression of hunting from the eyes of local hunters.

Paisano, I like Sports Afield, African Hunter, African Sporting Gazette and Safari. I don't subscribe - YET - to Hatari or Man Magnum (or whatever it's called) or the Double Gun Journal, but have read them and may subscribe soon. I also currently subscribe to the Wolfe publications (Rifle, Handloader and Successful Hunter), but since Ross Seyfried left the staff, I have decided to let my subscriptions lapse. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I subscribe to: African Hunter Hatari SCI Safari African Sporting Gazette Double Gun Journal Have always intended to subscribe to Man Magnum but never done so. Will probably subscribe to the new South African mag planned as well. I hope they stop introducing new good magazines else I will be broke.
